More than 21 years ago, Dixie Longate was talking to her parole officer about what she should do next in her life and she decided on selling Tupperware. She was good at it...really good at it. The girl could sling plastic storage containers like no one's business. A friend of hers told her that she should put her Tupperware schtick on the stage because it was so entertaining. That is exactly what Dixie did and she became one of the longest running off-Broadway shows.

She toured until the pandemic in 2020 put a halt to her busy schedule. She was back in the trailer with the kids and home-schooling. Between coaxing the kids to do their math homework and watching her sourdough starter, she began a new virtual show. Her online Happy Hour brought people together to laugh and dream three days a week. She enjoyed watching people, over time start to pursue the things they had always talked about doing. Out of her Happy Hour came her new show, Cherry Bombs and Bottle Rockets. This new show is a little bit Loretta Lynn (one of her biggest influences) and a little bit Oprah Winfrey. 

"Life is short - do something that makes you happy," says Longate. 

Who else influences this fiery red head? "Brownie Wise is a big influence. She is the one who created Tupperware parties. She influenced so many people to become who they wanted to be and she built a sense of community," says Longate. 

Dixie will be bringing her show to the intimate Hal Bogle Theatre on Thursday, March 16 at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available!
