Chandler Center for the Arts will undertake a major theater renovation during the summer of 2026, reinforcing the Center’s long-term commitment to serving the community through accessible, high-quality arts experiences. The renovation is scheduled to take place from June 15 through October 15, 2026.

Serving thousands of patrons each year, the Center will receive a series of improvements designed to enhance comfort, accessibility, and the overall patron experience. Planned updates include the replacement of all theatrical seating, new carpet and epoxy flooring, and enhanced floor and chair lighting. As part of the seating replacement, seats will be renumbered to improve wayfinding and better support patrons and volunteer ushers.

In addition to visible improvements, the renovation will address essential core systems that support the reliable operation of the facility. This work includes maintenance to fire sprinkler systems, theatrical rigging, and electrical infrastructure, ensuring the Center continues to operate at the highest standards for years to come.

“The seating and flooring throughout our three theaters is original to the building, with more than 36 years of use and wear,” said Michelle Mac Lennan, General Manager of Chandler Center for the Arts. “This renovation allows us to elevate the patron experience while making important investments in the core systems that support our artists, staff, volunteers, and community.”

All theaters will be closed to the public during the renovation period; however, Chandler Center for the Arts will continue to offer programming throughout the community at alternative locations. The popular Free Summer Concert Series will take place from July through August, Ballet Under the Stars will return to Downtown Chandler in September, and The Concert Truck will return for a third year with free performances at multiple Downtown Chandler locations.

The Center is planning a grand reopening in conjunction with the 2026 Center Stage Gala in October.

The renovations are funded by the City of Chandler and Chandler Unified School District, building on past improvements supported by voter-approved municipal bonds, including the 2010 $6.7M renovation.

Additional details regarding off-site performances and community engagement programming will be announced as the renovation period approaches.
