We consider ourselves lucky to work with some of the most passionate, talented, and hardworking people at Chandler Center for the Arts. While performances are on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic, we're taking this opportunity to turn our spotlight on the rockstars who make magic happen behind the scenes.
Meet Jillian Nakornthap
Exhibits Curator
How long have you worked at the Center? About three months.
What do you do? I research art, select artists to show in exhibitions at the Vision Gallery, decide on themes for exhibitions, write text for the displays, design the layouts of exhibitions.
What is the most enjoyable part of your job? I love curating and designing exhibitions. People may be surprised to learn my job is actually a lot of administrative work and herding of cats, but it's all worth it.
If you could see any artist perform at CCA, who would it be? Khruangbin. They have this melodic, almost hypnotic sound that I think would be fabulous at CCA.
What Chandler business(es) and landmarks do you show off to out-of-town visitors (besides CCA, of course)? Infinite Shade at Chandler Museum. I also really love Veteran’s Oasis Park.
What song instantly makes you turn up the radio in the car? If I’m listening to the radio, and "Senorita" by Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes comes on, I’ll turn it up
and sing along. It’s my guilty pleasure right now.
