Come and experience our musical Hispanic Heritage with a magnificent flute performance from Huáscar Barradas and his acoustic trio. Barradas is a Venezuelan flautist and flute professor at the "Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales" in Caracas. As a flautist, he has represented Venezuela at a range of international festivals as a soloist and symphonic musician, playing a wide range of music types. Barradas was the principal flute at “Orquesta Filarmónica Nacional”. Previously, he has worked as a teacher for the National Youth Orchestra of Venezuela and taught his course "The art of performing the flute" at different Conservatories in and out of Venezuela.
He has recorded 18 albums and collaborated with many world-renowned musicians in all music styles, from classical to pop, to jazz, and more. Huáscar Barradas was nominated twice for the Latin Grammy: once in 2011 for Best Long Video for "Entre Amigos 2", and again in 2013 for the Best Instrumental Album for “Dos Mundos 2” with pianist Leopoldo Betancourt. He was named Traditional Music Artist of the Year at the Pepsi Venezuela Music Awards in 2012 and 2013.
The Acoustic Trio is composed of world-class musicians like Elvis Martinez on bass and acoustic guitar, Jorge Polanco on Venezuelan Cuatro, and Jaider Arteaga on percussion. They will bring a great combination of music styles from all over Latin America in a colorful carnival of celebration of our Hispanic Heritage from Rio Grande to the Patagonia.
