Celebrate life and death with this Día de los Muertos musical production created by Angeleno band Las Cafeteras. In the first act, travel to the past with traditional folk songs, like “La Llorona” and “La Morena;” an on-stage altar and songs of memory to honor the ancestors who have come before. In the second act, the journey moves forward with modern music that celebrates life now and the life after death. Throughout the entire production, mesmerizing folklórico dance and colorful sets accentuate the distinct vibrant sound that is Las Cafeteras.
Celebre la vida y la muerte con esta producción musical del Día de los Muertos, creada por la banda angelina Las Cafeteras. En el primer acto, viaje al pasado con canciones folclóricas tradicionales, tales como “La Llorona” y “La Morena”; un altar en el escenario y canciones de memoria honran a los antepasados. En el segundo acto, el viaje avanza con música moderna que celebra la vida ahora y la vida después de la muerte. A través de toda la producción, la fascinante danza folclórica y los coloridos decorados acentúan el sonido vibrante distintivo que es Las Cafeteras.

Las Cafeteras interpretan música que está impregnada de compases, ritmos y rimas afromexicanas acompañada por letras inspiradas que documentan historias de una comunidad que busca amor y justicia en Los Ángeles. Con una contagiosa presentación en vivo que cuenta con una mezcla de sonido – desde rock hasta hip-hop y rancheras – Las Cafeteras usan letra en inglés, español y spanglish, a fin de cruzar las fronteras del género musical y establecer puentes entre distintas culturas.

The celebration will include a free artist reception in the CCA Gallery, music provided by DJ Les on the terrace, a display of lowrider cars and bikes, a face painter, and photo opportunities.
Attendees are invited to dress in their Day of the Dead best!
