CCA Under the Stars - At the Museum

Enjoy an intimate performance in Chandler Museum’s illuminated outdoor living room. This collaborative concert series is limited to 50 attendees and includes access to the Museum’s exhibits after hours. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings and savor an evening of music under a kaleidoscope of color and stars.

Since summer 2014, the trio House of Stairs has been careening through genres to discover their own metric trip-hop in Phoenix, AZ. Inspired by the illusionary MC Escher, House of Stairs dissects harmony, rhythm, and poetry to weave intense, deceptive, and often vulnerable aural tapestries. 

Phoenix New Times notes them as “One of the Hardest Working Bands in Phoenix,” relating their sound to “the ambient textures of Kid A-era Radiohead, while [Holly] Pyle’s vocals most evoke Beth Gibbons of Portishead.” Although they’re most often found frequenting every corner of Phoenix, they sometimes tour neighboring Southwest states. Their self-titled full-length album released in September 2018.

Named after MC Escher’s manipulations of 2D mediums, House of Stairs is a trio of multi-dimensional jazz musicians who mix elements of pop and progressive soul with electronic instruments and looping devices.
